FRC Women Get First Road Points Of The Season

09/21/10 – Sacramento, – The Feather River College Lady Eagles got their first points on the road against a formidable Sacramento City College team with a 1-1 Freshman Madeline Ramos grabbed her 3rd goal of the season and her 3rd in as many matches. The Lady Eagles struck first with another goal from the left side from Ramos who placed the ball perfectly over the keepers head off of the assist from Marielle McAdory in the 40th minute of the match.

The lead held up through half time but in the 55th minute Sac City struck when a long through ball was played and FRC keeper Kirsten Coultas came out of her penalty box to challenge for the ball. A Sac City player collided with Coultas and sent her falling hard. Unfortunately for FRC the ball bounded toward their goal and slowly dribbled across the goal line for the tying score.

It looked like the match was going to end in a draw and then 1 minute from time the center official awarded Sac City a penalty kick when he judged that one of the Golden Eagles defenders had her elbow too high when going for a header in the

The drama that happened next was almost too much to take. The Sac City player that took the penalty kick scored but the referee waived off the goal because a Sac City player had entered the area before the ball was struck and ordered that the kick be re-taken. FRC sophomore keeper Coultas was more than ready and dove to her right to save the penalty kick. The final score line reflected the evenly fought match.
